We all have students who would rather not take their turns speaking during class discussion. Why not allow them participate via an online chat or #hashtag ? This provides a relatively simple way for all students to contribute ideas and opinions to discussions. Plus, the likelihood of the dialogue extending outside the classroom is greater when social media comes into play.
We have the capacity to make discussion topics a part of anytime learning, much like our threaded discussions within online courses.
Try it! See if you get more input from those who might talk the least. Give 'em a chance to be a part if it!
